GORGES Changes Name to Keep Up with Trend
In response to questions we are announcing our name change again with more explanations. While we are known for our website production, we also create many types of business applications and management database applications. That part of our business is growing rapidly. In response, we changed our name from Gorges Web Sites to GORGES and website domain name to www.GORGES.us. This certainly does not mean GORGES is less interested in website design, on the contrary, we have just added web designers. That part of the business is also growing. Would they project a mobile app for every business today? Most businesses should become findable on mobile devices. That's clear. Increasingly, websites and other owner-controlled media are the only reliable contact information sources. There are many paths to meeting this need and considerable nuance. What is less clear is whether mobile device users will be satisfied to get more than just contact information off a phone's small screen. GORGES makes mobile apps and we are glad to explore mobile app questions with you. Call Don at +1 (607) 280-8993. It's so Easy NowWhy is the phone number above formatted that way? Because persons reading this email who use Skype or similar computer-based phone methods can just click the number to call us. Interested in how to encourage immediate phone, or text messages or chat directly from your website? Questions about how this works - call Don at +1 (607) 280-8993. Ithaca League of Women RollersGORGES is proud to be a Corporate Sponsor for such a fun, healthy, and audacious local group. Best wishes to the Rollers. Here is information and schedules. Recent Website LaunchesTaughannock Aviation [www.flytac.com]
Taughannock Aviation Corporation (TAC) has recently completed the third phase of our development project at the Ithaca Airport (KITH). They have added over 50,000 square feet of new hangar facilities and a 9,000 square foot FBO and new company headquarters since 1997. A renewed website for this long-term GORGES client was clearly in order. TAC offers diverse business jet services, everything from passenger comforts to aircraft servicing to management of privately owned jets. The challenge in renewing the website is to present this range of services in a way that makes it easy for the diverse client group to find what they need. The Information Design effort was the major activity. Garth Dennis is our primary contact at Taughannock Aviation. In a recent email Garth wrote: "From conception to implementation; the Gorges design team put together ideas that made us think laterally about 'our' business. The finished product is as professional as they come and the user interface allows us to easily change information on the site as necessary to be current with our marketplace. We are very happy with the final product! " Directory of Major Malls [shoppingcenters.com]
The Directory of Major Malls originally introduced as a spin-off to SHOPPING CENTER DIGEST has evolved in the past years into a site of data products which concentrate on the niche markets of the major shopping centers and malls in the U.S. and Canada. Now published under the corporate identity of Directory of Major Malls, this valuable data is available in print as the 1,800+ page, single volume DIRECTORY OF MAJOR MALLS, on CD-ROM as the DIRECTORY ON COMPUTER, on the internet at www.directoryofmajormalls.com, and as custom reports. This newly launched data-intensive, website by GORGES brings uses the Yii Framework and weeks of custom programming to bring the highest data-handling standard to thousands of subscribers at the Directory of Major Malls. Tompkins County Cooperative Extension [ccetompkins.org]
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County asked GORGES to help them redesign their web presence and develop a long term content management strategy. Over the course of several planning meetings, we listened to their web team and learned about the various complexities of developing a web presence for such a large and distributed organization. Based upon our findings, we created a website that comprehensively addressed the needs of the entire organization. In order to empower the staff to contribute to and maintain the web site, we implemented this project within the highly extensible Drupal content management platform. Throughout this project, we leveraged the powerful features of the open-source php-based content management system Drupal to create simple interfaces for complex functionality. Across the site, users have intuitive tools to generate compelling content with a range of media from text to video to graphics to flash. We built a comprehensive resource library with document uploading and video management, inline photo galleries, and interfaces for featuring and promoting any content across the site. Features
"We are getting rave reviews for the new GORGES design both from visitors to our site and from our staff. It easy for visitors to find information and, through the related resources and event features, they are introduced to the breadth of information we offer. The content management system lets our staff focus on content without having to have expertise in design. The flexibility built into the design allows staff to be creative while still keeping a cohesive look to the website."
