New York Six: Liberal Arts College Consortium

Information sharing hub for six Upstate New York liberal arts colleges/universities (2011)view site

New York Six Executive Director, Amy Cronin came to GORGES to create a multi-user, content-managed website for facilitating a range of collaborative programs among six New York State colleges.

The design challenge for GORGES was to deliver a clean, professional look without leaning towards any of the participating institutions' existing colors or branding. The functional challenges were all within the familiar range of GORGES services.

The design evolved to be a quiet and tasteful minimalist black-on-white navigation devices that allow each college to have a strong photographic presence. In the public and private sides of the website each of consortium's several programs has a forum, news page, events calendar, and a secure document exchange function.

The Consortium's mission is enhanced by this clear indication of collaboration. The website sees substantial traffic in the first year and the collaborative tools are in daily use.
